Inflation is causing a spike in costs of everything, including pet care.

Veterinarian Michael Henricks who owns Faithful Friends in Dublin has seen the impact of the inflation for his patients.

"With the recession coming along and also inflation being a big part of that, I think people may be not coming in as often as they need to," Henricks said.

Protecting pets is becoming a concern for Henricks. "You can see a big fluctuation in drug costs from week to week," he added.

Neogen is launching the Provecta Care Initiative, a program aimed to help pet owners by offering more affordable pet treatments.

Provecta offers pet parents an affordable treatment option to help pet owners treat for the ticks, fleas and mosquitoes that attack their pets.

According to a Neogen recent customer survey, 80 percent of pet owners who purchase flea and tick medications are being impacted by inflation.

Outside of offering affordable treatment, the initiative also supports the Veterinary Hope Foundation. Neogen is contributing $10,000 to VHF to help in providing the assistance and the preventive tools veterinarians need to navigate the common stressors unique to their profession.

Henricks hopes their efforts help pet families.

"I hope that we can have different options for ways that we can get some of those basic needs," Henricks said, "a bit of financial relief for those that need it."
