Volunteers are helping keep children warm during the holidays, one coat at a time.
Kids at Rockdale Academy received brand-new coats so they can beat the cold temperatures coming our way this winter.
The effort by IGS Energy, now in its sixth year, provides the money needed to donate a brand-new coat to every student at Rockdale Academy.
More than 400 students got to choose which one suited them best.
It's an opportunity to provide a layer of warmth to kids who may not have the means to get a new coat that fits them.
"In Ohio, particularly, as you guys know, a lot of children walk to school so, if it's 20 degrees outside and they don't have a coat, they don't come to school," said Kirsten Bradley, associate director of corporate partnerships at Operation Warm.
For the volunteers, this was much more than a lesson in fitting coats.
"The people that are receiving are very gracious and, obviously, that's touching but it's more what the people are feeling that are giving back," said Jason Moore, vice president of IGS Energy.
Rockdale Academy wasn't the only lucky school that had hundreds of free coats to give away. Five other schools across the country were also helped out by IGS.
