An NRG Ohio Pipeline informational meeting is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the F.O.P. Lodge at 36854 Royalton Road in Grafton. The meeting is hosted by law firm Goldman & Braunstein, who are eminent domain attorneys in Columbus. The NRG Ohio Pipeline Co. plans to build and operate about 20 miles of 24-inch to 30-inch, high pressure steel pipeline in Lorain County to deliver natural gas to the Avon Lake power plant. The proposed route for the pipeline runs from Route 57 to Route 6, but is not finalized yet. The pipeline company is securing easements from property owners and plans to begin construction as early as spring of 2015. Property owners who decline to negotiate or fail to reach an agreement could face eminent domain, which can result in a court order for the property to be used for the project. Landowners affected by the pipeline are invited to the free informational meeting. According to a press release, questions to be answered at the meeting include:

* How can a landowner ensure the highest amount possible for an easement?

* What do you need to do to ensure your property is restored after construction?

* What steps should I take when negotiating an easement to ensure my land, livestock and family’s well-being are protected during construction and after the pipeline is in place? For information about Ohio pipelines and landowners’ rights, visit
